Rate Hike for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2015
As you may have heard in the news we have posted earlier or from other Kailash Tour operators that there is a major rate increase by CIPSC (China Indian Pilgrims’ Service Center). Even though their rate hike is not reasonable, there is not much we can do as they are Chinese government entity authorized to provide Tibet Travel Permit for Indian Nationals. No other private agent can issue permit for Indian Nationals. This monopoly has caused stress and concern to all major Kailash Tour Operators as well as Kailash Tour Travelers.
As of August 20, 2014: Chinese Government has hiked the price Additional 297 USD per person for KMY 2014. This rate may not be valid for KMY 2015 if the Chinese government change the rule back to 25 person per bus.
Reason they have provided: CIPSC and Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) has send us the notice regarding the hike in price will continue for 2015. As informed by them there was a major traffic accident in Tibet. Therefore Chinese government has decided that each bus in Tibet side can only carry 17 guests, with a driver and guide. They will not let anyone enter Tibet without this surcharge. Kindly note that USD 297 will be applicable per person extra to all yatris. The rate is increased for all the Kailash tour operators of Nepal and India.
Conclusion: We believe that rate hike and carrying 17 guest only is not going to help prevent any accidents. The TTB should clearly state the reason and nature of accident, also there are several ways they can prevent accidents. Moreover, increasing 297 USD per person by reducing to 17 persons per vehicle is totally illogical.
